Community Development Districts:

Community Development Districts are independent, local, special purpose governments that issue debt to pay for the basic infrastructure associated with the development of real property. Property owners who benefit from the infrastructure pay special assessments and may also pay taxes to satisfy the debt and provide for the operation and maintenance of facilities and services maintained by Community Development Districts.

We work with developers through the land use approval process and the establishment of Community Development Districts. Our lawyers also serve as counsel to Community Development District boards of supervisors during the financing and construction of infrastructure and in the long-term infrastructure and facilities maintenance phase.

Our practice in this area involves public finance, public contracting and bidding, rulemaking, real property dedications and local government representation, including open meetings, ethics and public records law.
